SKOKIE,
IL, July 18, 2001 --- MacPherson, Inc. has begun shipping the M2X
Version 2, a compact, versatile two-way loudspeaker. The M2X Version 2
maintains the physical characteristics of the popular M2X, while
offering significant improvements to the sonic performance. The
bi-amplified loudspeaker is effective whether used singly or in arrays.
Listeners can expect true high-fidelity reproduction at high sound
pressure levels.
The M2X includes
improvements to both the low-frequency (LF) and high-frequency (HF)
performance. A new high-power 15-inch LF driver has been selected,
offering greater definition and an overall "warmer" sound. An
additional benefit of this new driver is that no LF filter network is
required. This minimizes undesired phase changes and increases the
output sensitivity. A custom-designed damping insert has been added to
the 2-inch-exit HF compression driver. This insert reduces the standing
waves that can be created by the driver’s rear mechanical system. A
completely redesigned HF filter network shapes and controls the response
of the compression driver. The changes combine to provide tight
low-frequency response, excellent vocal clarity, and extended
high-frequency reproduction.
The compact,
trapezoid-shaped enclosure is effective for many applications. A
cast-aluminum pole cup allows rapid stand mounting. The M2X Version 2 is
also available with integral fly-points, supporting overhead-suspension
applications. For long life, the cabinet is constructed using 13-ply
Baltic birch and finished with a rugged epoxy coating. Road cases are
available to transport two or four M2X Version 2 cabinets. While no
special processing is necessary, a MacPherson Black Box Stereo Analog
Controller is offered for installation simplicity. A Crown P.I.P.®-compatible
module is also available.
