Setup
and Tear Down a Breeze With MacPherson's AXIA Loudspeakers
AXIAs
Do Double Duty at Back-to-Back Events Around Chicago
SKOKIE,
IL, September 12, 2001 --- MacPherson's AXIA loudspeakers not only
provided great sound reinforcement around town this summer—they also
made event staging setup and tear down faster and easier.
On June 15th, an
AXIA rig supplied by T.C. Furlong, Inc., provided sound reinforcement at
Northwestern University’s Commencement Ceremony. The rig then traveled
to the Rosemont Convention Center for the Pri Med Midwest Convention
held on June 18th.
The Northwestern
installation featured eight AXIAs, flown in two line arrays of four
cabinets each. Positioned on either side of the stage, the main system
was supported by additional MacPherson loudspeakers, including two M2Xs,
two M12Xs and four M12BPs. The event, attended by 17,000 people, was
held at Northwestern’s outdoor football stadium, Ryan Field.
For the Pri Med
Midwest Convention, the rig moved indoors and a ninth AXIA was added.
Mounted on trusses, the AXIAs were used in a distributed audio
application—left, center, and right FOH and two delay lines. Six M12Xs
were added for front fills. The loudspeaker system covered the entire
venue for the event which drew 5,000 people.
Kelly Heligas, show
services supervisor at AVW Chicago, a Freeman Exposition Company, which
staged the Pri Med Midwest Convention, said, "The AXIAs are
terrific. Unlike a lot of speakers that sound sterile and plastic, these
loudspeakers have warmth and personality. And the AXIA rigging is really
easy to use."
