MacPherson
Loudspeakers on Stage
at Northwestern University's 2001 Commencement
Sixth Consecutive
Year Providing Sound for Northwestern Graduates
SKOKIE,
IL, July 30, 2001 --- 2001 marked the sixth consecutive year that MacPherson loudspeakers have been used at Northwestern University's
Commencement ceremonies and the first year that their high-power AXIA loudspeakers provided sound reinforcement.
Northwestern's 143rd annual commencement ceremony was held on June 15, 2001, at Ryan Field, the outdoor football stadium and home of the Northwestern
Wildcats. Approximately 17,000 students, parents, and guests were in attendance.
The challenge of covering a large outdoor venue was met with a mix of equipment from four of MacPherson's product lines. Eight AXIAs were flown in two line
arrays of four cabinets each, positioned on either side of the stage. The FOH system was supported by two
M2Xs for center fill and two M12Xs for additional fill. Four M12BPs served as stage monitors.
Lawyer and author, Scott Turow, was the keynote speaker at the commencement. The program included speeches as well as music provided by a full sixty-piece
orchestra.
